Default text alignment
Sign Customiser allows you to change the default text alignment presented on the visualiser for user-input text inputs. You can show or hide all the text alignment options the user can select.
Option Number List
You can now automatically generate a list of options for your customiser that are numbered. This is useful for when you have a large number of options and you want to make it easier for your customers to understand the order of the options.
Editor Modes
Overview Editor Modes is an admin control feature that allows you to determine which design interfaces are available to your customers when creating custom signs. You can choose to enable both the text editor and custom design options, or disable the text editor to streamline the customer experience by directing them exclusively to your custom design interface. Simple Breakdown When you disable the text editor in a customiser, your customers will only see your custom design interface - either the AI Designer, an embedded custom form, or a link to an external design page. This creates a more focused, streamlined ordering experience for customers who need to provide custom artwork or detailed design specifications. The text editor toggle gives you control over the customer journey: - Text Editor Enabled: Customers can choose between typing text directly in the customiser or switching to the custom design interface using tab navigation - Text Editor Disabled: Customers are automatically directed to the custom design interface with no tab switcher visible, creating a single, focused workflow This feature is particularly useful for shops that primarily work with customer-provided artwork, complex custom designs, or detailed form-based requirements, where the standard text editor interface may not be the primary ordering method.

How to disable Cloudflare Proxy for Sign Customiser
If you're seeing errors when trying to connect Sign Customiser to your website, and your domain is protected by Cloudflare, it could be because Cloudflare's security features are blocking the connection. This is actually Cloudflare doing its job—protecting your site from automated requests. However, Sign Customiser needs to be able to connect automatically to work properly. The good news is you can easily fix this by creating a special rule that tells Cloudflare to allow Sign Customiser through. Don't worry—this won't affect your site's security for regular visitors.

How to Connect Your WooCommerce Store with Sign Customiser
This guide walks you through integrating your WooCommerce store on WordPress with Sign Customiser, allowing your customers to customise products directly on your website.
Migrating from the legacy WordPress plugin
This article is for users of our (now legacy) WordPress plugin. We recently released a faster and easier way to connect your WooCommerce site to Sign Customiser. If you were previously using the Sign Customiser plugin that you installed via the WordPress "plugins" tab, this article will walk you through the steps required to use the newer integration.
Automatically Deleting Generated Products in WordPress
The Sign Customiser generates products so that customers can purchase their customised designs. This step is essential and cannot be skipped. However, we understand that having these auto-generated products in your product list can become overwhelming. This guide will show you how to automatically delete these products using the WP Bulk Delete Pro plugin. WP Bulk Delete is a third-party tool and is not affiliated with Sign Customiser. Use it with caution and at your own risk.
How SEO is treated for Custom Signs in WordPress
The custom signs created by our app are automatically hidden from all WooCommerce categories and product pages. They also contain a meta tag that excludes them from SEO indexing. These settings are applied automatically when a product is created by our app, and no additional action is required on your end.
Custom & Other Platform Integrations

Drag, Scale, Rotate Words and Icons
Give your customers the ultimate design freedom when creating custom letter signs by empowering them to drag, scale and rotate words and icons. This feature allows the following designs to be made possible. Independent word sizing: The ability to change the size of each word independently so you can truly customise the design. Independent word layout/location: Drag each word around independently to various locations rather than restricting it to a per-line basis. Word layer priority: Similar to design programs like photoshop/illustrator, you could have words stacking and overlapping, and your customer can choose which word is in front and which word is behind. This feature is only available for stores that are subscribed to non-legacy plans.
Google Fonts
This feature allows you to browse through all 1000+ Google fonts within our admin and add it to your customiser with a single click. This will save you time from having to manually add the font to your customiser plus all fonts are free!

Multi-colour / Multi-font sign designs
All customisers can now enable the multi-colours and fonts feature which allows customers to add more than one colour or font to their sign design.
Multi-Currency
Enabling the multi-currency feature in your Shopify store allows customers to view products and make purchases in their prefer currency. This can be achieved by integrating a currency switcher app or using the Markets feature from Shopify. Currently, our Sign Customiser app supports two popular currency conversion apps: Vitals and Best Currency Converter. While we recommend Shopify Markets for its seamless integration and optimal performance, we acknowledge that not all global stores have access to this feature. To cater to a broader range of our users, we've recently updated the Sign Customiser app to provide enhanced support for Vitals and Best Currency Converter. This guide will walk you through setting up multiple currencies using Shopify Markets and integrating Vitals and Best Currency Converter with your store.
Quote Mode
By default, Sign Customiser is set to "Sales Mode," which allows you to create a product and add it to your store's customer cart so that they can purchase it from your store. However, in quote mode, you now have the ability to receive quotes of sign designs created by the user, which are then sent to your designated email inbox. The quote email will contain several mockup images of the sign based on the user-selected options that you have provided, e.g. colours, sizes, backboards, etc for your customiser. Forms used for quote mode are not the same as custom design forms as quote mode forms use the design of the sign created by our app (same image as presented in the visualiser) as the reference image attached to the email.

AI Sign Designer
AI sign designer and working with forms for custom designs
AI Sign Designer Guide
The AI Sign Designer converts customer-uploaded images into vector SVG outlines for sign production. Customers upload a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or SVG, and the AI generates a clean SVG file they can immediately use to configure and purchase a sign. This is different from a custom design form submission. With AI Sign Designer, customers get an instant result that they can buy. Without it (or when credits run out), customers submit a request that you process manually later.
Linking to an External Page for Custom Designs
Instead of embedding a custom form within the customiser, you can add a link to an external page. This link will be placed at the top of the selections column in your customiser.
Custom Design Screen
Additional Information to Your Forms - Custom Design Screen
The Custom Design Screen allows you to provide extra details about your custom signs, such as the design process or specific instructions. This screen is available when you embed a form or add a link to an external page. If you haven’t set up a form yet, follow our Custom Design Forms guide. If you would like to add a link to an external page, follow our Linking to an External Page for Custom Designs guide.

Pricing and Sizing Models
Learn all about our unique models that power the pricing and sizing measurements designed for letter signs and every other sign type.
Simple Letter Model
Getting Started with the Simple Letter Model
The Simple Letter Model is ideal for merchants who sell signs with standardised width or height and straightforward pricing (e.g. 40cm, 60cm, 80 cm). It lets you easily set up pricing based on size, character count, and number of lines. If you need more flexibility for pricing and dynamic size scaling, see the Advanced Letter Model.
Configure Your Simple Letter Model Customiser (Core Setup)
Sizes in the Simple Letter Model are based on your size strategy: fixed width or fixed height combined with the maximum characters per line and maximum number of lines allowed for each size.
How Pricing Works in the Simple Letter Model
The Simple Letter Model calculates the sign's final price based on these factors: Size selection – either width or height is fixed Number of lines Base price per line Price per character per line You can create multiple pricing rules and assign them to different fonts. For example, fonts that need more material or labour can be assigned a higher price tier. Below are examples of how the calculation works.

Flat Parcel Shipping Costs
This Sign Customiser guide covers Flat Parcel Shipping Costs with the steps and context you need to complete the workflow.
Volumetric Weight Pricing
Volumetric weight (also called dimensional weight or volumetric mass) is a calculated measurement used in shipping and logistics to determine the billable weight of a package. It is based on the package's volume and a divisor provided by the shipping carriers. Volumetric weight is used when a package is relatively light compared to its size, ensuring shipping costs are calculated fairly based on the space it occupies.
How to set a minimum height of sign size on the advanced model
The minimum size of the uppercase and lowercase characters of a font that are used in sign design determine the minimum height of the sign size. Using the advanced model you can set the minimum height of the sign size by doing the following. Navigate to the admin of Sign Customiser on your store Click on "Customisers" in the home menu Click on the customiser you wish to edit Click on "Fonts" in the left-hand side menu Click on the font that you want the minimum size to of the sign to be set for Scroll down until you see "Minimum height of uppercase" and "Minimum height of lowercase" inputs. This is where you can set a value of both the uppercase and lowercase characters e.g. 6cm and 10cm respectively, now when that font is selected by a customer the sign heights minimum size will be that value.
Minimum character amount - advanced model
You can set a block on the minimum amount of characters required to be entered before the customer can proceed to add to cart / generate a quote when creating a sign. The ability to change the minimum amount of characters is available for all letter models; this article, however, only refers to how to change it for the Advanced letter model.
How to measure the minimum height of font characters as a sign builder or manufacturer
This document is only intended for sign builders and manufacturers. If you are a drop shipper, refer to this article. Q: When specifying the height of the smallest letter, shall we exclude symbols and characters? Symbols like _ (underline) or. (period) usually takes the minimum height in all typefaces. A: Yes, symbols and other similar characters should be excluded. Q: When specifying the minimum height of the smallest letter, shall we just measure every letter, regardless of whether it's an upper or lower case? A: Yes if you can. Usually, it would be the lowercase letter but some fonts will have only uppercase letters, so it should be adjusted accordingly. Q: When it says "smallest". does it mean shortest, most narrow or takes the least amount of space as a whole? A: It should be the shortest; we’re only looking at the height for this measurement.
Get the minimum height from a font character set as a dropshipper
This article is intended for dropshippers only, if you are sign builder refer to our article about how to the measure the minimum height of a font character. You will need to request the minimum height for the smallest and uppercase letters for every font that you want to use with Sign Customiser from your manufacturer. Every font is unique in shape and size, and thus, your manufacturer will be able to determine the minimum heights of the font as they are the ones who work with the materials used to build the sign and understand its limitations.
Manually calculate shipping cost value
To do these calculations yourself, first must have your shipping cost matrix provided to you by your supplier/freight company. The formula to calculate the shipping cost per centimeter squared based on a defined cost per measurement is as follows. For the current size range, you are editing the price formula; you should match the range limit value with the step in your shipping cost matrix and retrieve the cost price value. E.g. You have set a max size range that was 75cm, and in the shipping cost matrix, you have found the cost price for 75cm by 75cm to be a value of $98.00 Dimensions:75cm by 75cm Price:$98.00 Calculation:98 / (75*75) = $0.017 per centimeter~ number was rounded to 3 decimals
Determine material cost from average cost per letter
In this article, you will learn how to get your material cost when you receive an average cost per letter from your supplier. Make sure you have received your average cost per letter from your supplier Create a new pricing formula for your advanced model customiser. In your new pricing formula enter the following values and ensure only one size range is added for this pricing formula. Save your new pricing formula. If you have already added a font to your customiser then use that one in this process otherwise add a new one. For your font, assign the pricing rule to the new pricing you have created e.g. "material cost test" and hit save at the bottom of the form. Go to the customer-facing version of your customiser on your stores and on the page where your customiser lives enter the following string of characters. If using the English alphabet with lowercase letters, abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz, if using another language enter in all the characters of your alphabet and make sure to count the number of characters you have entered. Record the price displayed on your customiser and divide the price by 26 (the number of characters you have entered for the alphabet) which will give you your average cost - e.g. $646.51 / 26 = 24 = $24.84 - $24.84 is now your average cost for this font based on $1 per centimetre for the material cost. Change the material cost value for the price formula to then be as close as possible to the average cost per letter your supplier gave you from step 1. You now have an accurate material cost value you can use for your pricing formulas. You can go ahead and update your price formulas with the material cost value provided in step 8.
Pricing - Advanced letter model
The Advanced Letter pricing model is Sign Customiser's most sophisticated pricing system that calculates costs based on the actual material length required to cut your letter shapes. Unlike simple character counting or fixed pricing, this model precisely traces the outline of each letter to determine exactly how much material you'll need, giving you incredibly accurate pricing for your custom signs. This pricing model is perfect when you want complete control over your pricing strategy and need to account for the real material costs of different fonts, text lengths, and letter styles. Whether you're working with flexible neon, cut acrylic letters, or metal signs, the Advanced Letter model ensures your customers pay a fair price based on the actual material usage. The system automatically handles complex calculations using advanced font technology, manages different size tiers with custom pricing rules, and integrates seamlessly with shipping calculations to provide transparent, accurate quotes every time.

Sizing - Advanced model
This guide explains how to configure Sizes for the Advanced letter Model. Sizes in this model are based on a Scale Multiplier that dynamically adjusts the sign's dimensions according to the selected font. This section covers everything you need to configure within the Sizes settings in the Advanced Letter Model.
Letter material cost
Letter Material Cost is an advanced pricing method that calculates costs based on the actual amount of material needed to cut your letters. Instead of charging a fixed price per letter, this feature traces the exact cutting path of each character and multiplies that length by your material cost per centimetre. This ensures you charge customers precisely for the material used, making your pricing more accurate and profitable. Key Benefits: Accurate pricing: Customers pay for exactly the material their design uses Font-sensitive pricing: Complex decorative fonts cost more than simple fonts Flexible pricing tiers: Set different material costs based on sign dimensions Real-time calculations: Prices update instantly as customers change their text or fonts
How to use shipping costs for the advanced model
Sign Customiser provides 2 different shipping price options: Flat and Volumetric Weight. To set up Shipping Price, from your customiser editor page, negative to Required Options > Pricing and edit your pricing rules. On the pricing editor page, you will find the Shipping Price Method option. Choose either Flat or Volumetric Weight. The Shipping price feature is currently only available with Advanced Model Customisers For instructions on how to set up both options, please refer to the links below. Flat Volumetric Weight
Font characters and minimum height
The minimum height for font characters can only be adjusted using the advanced letter model. The minimum height of the smallest character will always be assigned to the shortest character in a given combination of characters. The system will scale any single character down to the minimum height when presented by itself. For example, the height of 'a' or 'b' will be the same when they are the only characters used for the sign, despite the character 'b' being a taller character. However, when the following character combination, such as ‘ab’, is used for the sign, then the height of the sign will scale to a size where the ‘a’ character is given minimum height and ‘b’ would have a height relative to ‘a’. Further Explanation: Let's start with the word "google", this is a great word to use since it has what you would call an ascender ("l") and a descender ("g") that reaches a font's highest and lowest point and a base letter like "o". If the min-height of the smallest letter was set to 5cm the following outcomes for height would be shown in the measurements. The min-height for the smallest letter applies to the shortest letter on the word. In the word "google" this would be the letter "o" at a height of 5cm Adding "g" adds on top of that minimum height makes the height now 10cm Adding the "l" would further increase the height to 17cm
Test Sign Measurement Accuracy
We have provided a way to test the measurement accuracy of your fonts using our app. This will allow you to manually measure the width, height and material length of any text combination with any font of your choosing.
Getting started with the advanced model
In this article, we outline the key resources and processes to learn all about our advanced model.
Size Boundaries
View the video for a comprehensive overview on how size boundaries work in both the advanced letter and frame fit models.
Advanced Model Measurement Calculations
Our advanced letter model sizing can be a bit confusing to set up and understand how it all ties together. Let's break down how the final measurements are calculated
Frame Fit Model
Sizing - Frame Fit Model
The frame (outer edges of a sign) is the primary factor for a sizing. “Outer edges” refers to the full boundary or perimeter of your sign. In other words, it’s the total width and height measured from the very leftmost point to the rightmost point and from the topmost point to the bottommost point of the finished sign. By always measuring from the outermost tips of a sign, you’ll get a clear and consistent measurement for quoting, production, and installation.
Pricing - Frame Fit model
Pricing in the framefit model is very similar to the advanced letter model pricing. In frame fit, a pricing formula is not tied to a font; you can only have one pricing formula per frame fit customiser. The frame (outer edges of a sign) is the only factor that is considered when applying a price calculation.
Frame Fit Model
Try it for yourself: Frame Fit Demo Frame Fit is a purpose-built pricing system engineered specifically for frame-based signage where the cost is determined entirely by the frame dimensions rather than the complexity of the text content. Unlike traditional letter-by-letter pricing models, Frame Fit calculates prices using either: Flat parcel (CM²): frame width × frame height × price per square centimetre Volumetric parcel (CM³): frame width × frame height × frame length × price per cubic centimetre This model is perfect for lightbox signs, panel displays, board signs, and any signage where the manufacturing cost scales with the frame area (CM²) or volume (CM³) rather than individual letter specifications. The system provides instant pricing updates as customers adjust frame dimensions, whilst maintaining complete flexibility for text content within the frame boundaries.
Fixed Height Model (Legacy)
Introduction to the Fixed Height Model
A fixed height model is a collection of sizes, all of which are set to a nominated height per line measured in centimeters. e.g. Small at 10cm, Medium at 20cm and large at 30cm. For each size, the following parameters can be set The height The minimum amount of characters. The maximum amount of characters (optional) The number of lines of text allowed. The height for a single-line sign will always be the nominated height no matter the character count. However, the overall height for a multiline sign can vary and will be determined by The nominated height per line The natural height of the characters The distance between lines based on the font Here's a visual example with the nominated height set to 50cm. The tallest line, the capital letter M, will take on this number. The smaller letter m is shorter than capital letter M, therefore it is only a fraction of the nominated height - 37.84cm. In a multiline scenario, all lines will naturally scale from the tallest line. Combined with the space between the lines, calculated by the app to be 32.49cm brings the total to 120.33cm. This method allows the app to produce measurements in the most accurate way possible while maintaining a fixed height per line.
Pricing - Fixed Height Model
With a fixed height model, the price of a neon sign is determined by its size, number of characters, number of lines, and font. Here are two examples to illustrate how pricing is calculated.
Automatically switch to the next size up when character limit is reached
For our fixed-width and fixed-height models you can set a character limit per size. When a user enters in more characters on a single line that exceeds the character limit, our app will automatically change the current size selected to next size up if its available. This allows the user to create signs with the amount of characters they want for that line and not have to worry about character limitations as that can disrupt their design process and lead to frustrations. By default the setting to prevent this functionality from occurring is turned off, this means your users will have sizes automatically switched to the next size up when the character limit is reached.

How to download fonts from a customiser
When working with custom signs, you may need to share the exact fonts used in your customiser with production partners, print shops, or your manufacturing team. Sign Customiser makes this easy with our bulk font download feature.

Font min heights and rounding measurements
This article applies to Advanced Model customisers only If you have the setting "No decimal" enabled for your customiser: while also having fonts with minimum heights set to decimal values you will encounter this warning: The "No decimal" setting tells our system to round any measurements that are displayed on your Customiser, meaning if we calculate that your sign height should be "10.30cm" we will round it down to "10cm" and display that to the customer. We then need to validate that 10cm value against your font min height of 10.16cm, causing a validation issue. For this reason merchants using the "No decimal" setting are advised to set their font min heights to whole values.
